About Minneapolis Heat Pump Pros

Minneapolis Heat Pump Pros connects Minneapolis-area homeowners with vetted, locally-licensed heat-pump installers. We do not install heat pumps ourselves. Our role is research, vetting, and matching — focused on the specific realities of cold-climate heating, retrofit work in older Minneapolis housing stock, and the Xcel Energy rebate program.

What we do

We maintain neighborhood-specific guidance on heat-pump install across Minneapolis — pre-1940 Linden Hills bungalows with hydronic heat, post-war ramblers, lake-area homes, and everything in between. Each neighborhood page covers the practical reality of doing the work in that housing stock: ductwork retrofit feasibility, outdoor-unit placement and sound-clearance constraints, dual-fuel vs. fully-electric for our climate, and what permits the city requires.

When you request a quote, we match you with up to three locally-licensed installers who actively do work in your neighborhood and have experience with your home's heating type. We verify license and insurance when a pro is added to the network and re-verify periodically.

Editorial standards

The Minneapolis Heat Pump Pros editorial team writes every neighborhood page, cost guide, and equipment recommendation. We cross-reference Department of Energy cold-climate heat-pump performance data, the AHRI directory for equipment specs, Xcel Energy's current rebate program rules, and Minneapolis permit-office requirements. Pages are reviewed quarterly and updated when rebates, codes, or equipment lines change.

How we make money

Installers pay us a per-lead fee when we connect them with a homeowner who requested a quote. This is the standard home-services lead-matching model. Pros only pay when we deliver a verified lead — they have a strong incentive to quote competitively and deliver excellent service to retain network access.

You never pay for the matching service. Quote requests are free; only the actual installation you contract is paid (and you pay the installer directly, not us).

Spot an error?

Rebate amounts, permit fees, and code requirements change. If you spot something out of date — a rebate that's expired, a neighborhood guideline that's no longer accurate, an installer who shouldn't be in our network — email editorial@minneapolisheatpumppros.com. We respond within a few business days.
